In commemoration of the Holocaust, the American-Russian Business Council and the Russian Advisory Board sponsor screenings of the documentary “Holocaust – Is that Wallpaper Paste?”
Commemorating the Holocaust is an important reminder of the collapse of civilization and the tragic loss of millions of innocent lives. It is a part of history that should never be forgotten. However, this documentary shows that there are individuals that know nothing about the Holocaust. Two young girls from a Russian province appeared on a TV show and were asked what the word Holocaust means. The answer that the word Holocaust means “wallpaper paste” became the catalyst for journalist and film director Mumin Shakirov to come up with the idea to buy these two women tickets to Warsaw, Poland. Traveling with them to Auschwitz, he captures on film their journey and their reactions as they take in and begin to understand the horrors of the concentration camps.
There will be two screenings on Tuesday, April 7, 2015.
At WeHo Library/Council Chambers.
The first screening will be at 2:00 p.m. for schoolchildren,
and the second screening will be in the evening at 6:30 p.m.

Suggested Donation - $10

The film is in Russian with English subtitles.

This quarter's ARBC business mixer fell right in the middle of Russian Christmas and the Old New Year. There was plenty to celebrate as well as discuss.

We had a great turnout, with representatives from many different industries, including medicine, entertainment, real estate, beauty advertising, publishing, marketing, finance, sports, and many others.

Alex Durmashkin, President of the organization, gave opening remarks about American-Russian Business Council and introduced Father Alexander Lebedev of the Holy Transfiguration Russian Orthodox Church in Los Angeles who provided the group with an overview of Russian Christmas traditions and old Russian calendar that was replaced in 1918.

Isla Cantina Restaurant provided excellent hospitality, service, food, drinks, and music.
